The Ariat Volant Collection

Thinking of buying a pair of boots from the Ariat Volant Collection?  Well, they certainly seem like nice riding boots, but for the price of $499.95, are they really worth it? The Ariat Volant Front-Zip Tall Boot, I have heard great things about, but unfortunately are an eyesore. Many reviews I have read say it’s like walking on a cloud and that it’s the most comfortable riding experience they’ve ever had.  So if you have the money, I say go for it! Just keep in mind that if you want to do showing with them, it would be wise to buy the $179.95 Ariat Volant Half Chap as well.  The red zipper curving down the front of the boot is not what I would call elegant.

If you’re looking for a more traditional looking boot that still has the comfort, I would go with the Ariat Volant Vented Back-Zip Tall Boot. Now while it is a back-zip, I’ve read that they are still mighty comfy. They still don’t have the look of a traditional field boot, but I have seen them in the jumper show ring, many people find that they are too “out there” for hunter and dressage. These boots are still $499.95, but no half chaps would be needed.

In the end, I would spend my money on a more traditional field boot, that won’t look so futuristic in the show ring.  But if you are someone who’s feet are always hurting, I highly recommend this boot to you. It seems to be well worth to money to most people, despite it’s odd look. I must say though, if you are thinking of buying this boot, I would definitely try some on first to assure that you purchase the right size and that you truly love them (which it seems as though most people do!)

I hope this info was helpful and that you find the perfect riding boot! Here are a few links to reviews and more information about the Ariat Volant Collection:

It's August!

And with August comes thoughts of fall and muggy days, as well as, unfortunately, school. Whether its high school, college, or just a busy job, it can be hard to find time to spend  with your horse, or at your favorite barn. But with these tips, your sure to find time to spend with your friend.
1. Plan Ahead! Schedule specific days each week to go see your horse. Mark it in your calendar and keep those days in mind when scheduling appointments and activities.
2. Don't let the weather stop you. Even if its raining still go see your horse, he'll probably enjoy a carrot on a dull, drizzly day. Don't be afraid to ride in the rain either, last time I checked, a little water is better than flies any day (or at least to a horse it is).
3. Multi-task! If you need to get some exercise, but so does your horse, try going for a jog down a trail with your horse (you are on foot, of course :]). The greatest thing about running with your horse is that if you get tired, you have a ride home.
4. Relax. Had a busy day? Spending time with your horse can be therapeutic, take advantage of that and unwind with him after work or school. A leisurely trail ride can relieve you of all your stress and nerves.
Hope you find these tips to be helpful and that you are able to spend lots of quality time with your furry (or is it hairy?) friend in the months to come.  Fall is the perfect time to get some serious riding in after the heat and bugs of summer, and before the freezing temps and snow of winter.
Keep riding!

Welcome All!

Well, hello there. My experience with horses has not been all I wish it could be. As it is with many horse people I meet. While it is easy to obtain a horse, as I have discovered; it is much harder and costly to keep one for the long term. Quite disappointing for a die-hard horse-oholic, but what can you do? I, luckily enough, did have a horse, but only for a year and a quarter. I had some of my greatest days on Belle; some of my most trying too. It was such a wonderful experience that was hard to let go. But unfortunately, like a lot of things in life, it had to happen. While it is hard to think that I don't have my beloved horse anymore, I feel incredibly blessed to have had such wonderful experiences with her.
I'm here to give you info on anything horse related from breeds to riding helmets to upcoming events. Horses are my passion and I plan on being around them for the rest of my life; through this I can educate you and me about the horse world.
